Deck overview

This Golgari deck centers on Ygra, Eater of All, turning every creature on the battlefield into a Food artifact. This unique type-changing ability supercharges artifact removal spells like Reclamation Sage, Cankerbloom, and Pest Infestation, turning them into flexible creature removal. Mass artifact destruction from Bane of Progress acts as a one-sided board wipe that simultaneously places dozens of +1/+1 counters onto Ygra. Meanwhile, aristocrat drain engines like Disciple of the Vault, Marionette Apprentice, and Mirkwood Bats trigger whenever any creature dies or token is sacrificed, applying heavy table-wide life loss. The deck ramps on early turns, establishes Ygra by Turn 4, and pivots into a dominant board state by Turn 6. Opponents struggle to target Ygra thanks to its Ward cost, which forces them to sacrifice their own creatures. The game closes around Turn 8 through unblockable commander damage and passive drain triggers.
