Smaug by TheeLazyKing

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Black-Red Dragon/Treasure deck built around Smaug the Impenetrable, a 7-mana 8/7 flying, indestructible, haste beater that converts noncombat damage into Treasures. The core loop is to ping Smaug with Pyrohemia, Cut Propulsion, Requiem Monolith, or Mjolnir, Hammer of Thor to flood the board with Treasures, then cash that mana into a decisive finish. Primary wins are Hellkite Charger extra-combat chains, the artifact-count alt-wins on Hellkite Tyrant and Knuckles the Echidna, and raw combat damage doubled by Twinflame Tyrant and Mjolnir. The deck leans heavily on redundant treasure generation (Xorn, Academy Manufactor, Prosper, Tome-Bound, Grim Hireling) and impulse-draw engines to keep the gas flowing, with rituals like Seething Song and Culling the Weak accelerating the expensive commander.
