Deck overview

Queen Marchesa leads a Mardu Aikido and forced combat control deck designed to turn opponents' strength against them. The deck uses early pillowfort enchantments and low-cost mana rocks to establish a defensive perimeter while introducing the Monarch mechanic. By deploying threats like Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos, Slicer, Hired Muscle, and Court enchantments, it accelerates damage across the table while staying safe behind attack taxes like Ghostly Prison and Windborn Muse. When opponents attempt large combat swings, instant-speed aikido spells such as Deflecting Palm, Comeuppance, and Inkshield punish aggression and generate game-ending counterattacks. As opponents whittle down each other's life totals through goad effects like Disrupt Decorum and Taunt from the Rampart, the deck transitions into the late game with board wipes like Ruinous Ultimatum and closes the game in a heavily favorable final duel.
