Deck overview

This mono-blue combo deck leverages a unique critical-mass construction featuring 40 copies of Sphinx's Approach. The primary game plan revolves around casting Geist of Saint Thalia on Turn 2 to reduce the cost of noncreature spells by one mana. This acceleration enables the player to rapidly cycle and discard copies of Sphinx's Approach during Turns 3 and 4. On Turn 5, resolving the fifth Approach triggers its alternate exile ability, searching Sphinx of the Chimes directly onto the battlefield. Once in play, Sphinx of the Chimes discards pairs of identical Approach cards to draw four cards per activation, chaining through the entire deck in a single turn. The pilot then closes the game immediately using Thassa's Oracle, Laboratory Maniac, or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. While the deck features format-ceiling draw throughput and high functional redundancy, its reliance on the graveyard and lack of creature removal represent distinct vulnerabilities.
