Deck overview

This Golgari deck is a synergistic Squirrel tribal and token swarm strategy commanded by Hazel of the Rootbloom. The deck's primary game plan revolves around generating an early Squirrel token on Turns 1 through 3, resolving Hazel on Turn 4 to duplicate the token at end step, and converting those tokens into massive mana ramp on Turn 5. This mana acceleration enables explosive board development with powerhouses like Chatterfang, Squirrel General, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, and Camellia, the Seedmiser. By Turn 6, the deck converts wide token swarms into lethal table pressure using mass pump effects such as Beastmaster Ascension, Overrun, Preposterous Proportions, and End-Raze Forerunners, backed by aristocrat drain from Valley Rotcaller and Mirkwood Bats. While vulnerable to mass creature sweepers and lacking stack interaction, the list boasts high functional redundancy, robust token-fueled card draw engines, and resilient multi-threat redundancy that reliably closes games by Turn 8.
