Deck overview

This deck executes a focused Rakdos group-slug strategy centered on Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying low-cost punishment permanents that deal incremental damage during each opponent's turn. Cards like Razorkin Needlehead, Fate Unraveler, and Mogis, God of Slaughter consistently trigger Valgavoth's ability, converting opposing draw steps into +1/+1 counters and fresh cards. Over several turn cycles, Valgavoth snowballs into a formidable aerial attacker while keeping your hand replenished with answers and burn pieces. The deck applies relentless, symmetrical life pressure through cards like Painful Quandary and Spiteful Visions, eventually breaking parity through commander damage and asymmetric finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While its removal suite efficiently handles opposing commanders and problem creatures, the deck features limited stack protection and remains vulnerable to board sweepers across extended game windows.
