Deck overview

Xyris, the Writhing Storm leads a Temur swarm and group-draw strategy that weaponizes card advantage into overwhelming board presence. The deck accelerates in the opening turns with 15 low-cost mana dorks and rocks, casting Xyris ahead of curve by Turn 3. Once operational, every card drawn by opponents—whether from natural draw steps, symmetric artifacts like Howling Mine and Font of Mythos, or Xyris's own combat damage trigger—spawns 1/1 Snake creature tokens. This rapidly creates a wide board of tokens that fuel massive draw engines like Skullclamp and Curiosity Crafter. The deck converts this token army into game-winning lethality using direct entry burn like Purphoros, God of the Forge and Impact Tremors, or combat anthems like Shared Animosity, Beastmaster Ascension, and Craterhoof Behemoth. Free and efficient countermagic protects the setup, enabling decisive alpha strikes that eliminate all opponents in a single coordinated attack.
