Deck overview

This mono-black Zombie tribal deck is commanded by Ghoulcaller Gisa. The strategy focuses on establishing early Zombie permanents, deploying Gisa, and sacrificing high-power or recurring creatures to flood the board with 2/2 Zombie tokens. The deck amplifies these tokens with anthem lords such as Undead Warchief, Death Baron, and Cemetery Reaper, or converts them into direct life drain through Ayara, First of Locthwain, Vengeful Dead, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Card draw engines like Cryptbreaker, Undead Augur, and Graveborn Muse keep the hand replenished by leveraging token deaths and tap activations. While the deck boasts immense board presence and robust graveyard recursion, it lacks direct tutors and instant-speed protection for Gisa, making timing and resource preservation essential for closing out games.
