Deck overview

Smaug the Magnificent leads a proactive mono-red Treasure burn deck designed to convert rapid artifact generation into lethal noncombat damage and explosive combat steps. The deck establishes early mana velocity through low-cost ramp and Treasure enablers, casting Smaug on Turn 4. Thanks to flying and haste, Smaug attacks immediately, triggering direct burn equal to your Treasure count. On Turn 5, damage multipliers like Fiery Emancipation, extra combat spells like Aggravated Assault, or artifact-ping engines dramatically accelerate the damage clock. The list protects its commander with cheap redirection spells, protective equipment, and anti-blue countermagic, while Price of Glory restricts opposing flash plays. Even if Smaug is removed, the deck recovers swiftly using Treasure mana to pay commander tax or transitions smoothly into backup threats like Goldspan Dragon and Bonehoard Dracosaur. Under ordinary conditions, the deck eliminates the entire table by Turn 7.
