Deck overview

This Dimir deck is a midrange tribal control strategy helmed by Vren, the Relentless. It leverages continuous exile replacement effects to suppress opposing death triggers while converting opponent creature deaths into an expanding army of scaling Rat tokens. The deck pairs dense single-target removal spells like Hero's Downfall and Fell with tribal payoffs such as Valley Rotcaller, Karumonix, the Rat King, and Piper of the Swarm to transition from early-game creature attrition into an overwhelming combat finish. Because the list lacks fast mana and universal tutors, it operates on a standard curve, using natural land drops and one-shot card draw to establish its engine by Turn 5. The primary clock threatens lethal combat around Turn 7 and closes the table by Turn 9 with evasion from Sleep or menace anthems. While resilient to graveyard strategies and protected by Vren's Ward ability, the deck remains vulnerable to mass board sweepers.
