Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Dimir control and attrition list commanded by Talion, the Kindly Lord. The strategy focuses on establishing early board control through efficient stax pieces such as Cursed Totem, Grafdigger's Cage, and Opposition Agent, while deploying Talion on Turn 3 or 4 to establish steady card advantage and incremental life drain. By naming common mana values (predominantly 2), Talion punishes typical game actions. The deck accelerates this clock on Turn 5 using multiplicative drain engines like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Painful Quandary, Polluted Bonds, and clone effects like Spark Double and Sakashima the Impostor. A dense suite of free and low-mana counterspells protects your permanents and prevents opposing combo attempts. Without relying on infinite combos, the deck steadily exhausts opponent resources and life totals, closing the game around Turn 8 through accumulated passive drain and evasive combat damage.
