Deck overview

This Grixis deck operates as a high-synergy Midrange and Control build centered around Sauron, the Dark Lord, the Ring temptation mechanic, and Wraith tribal synergy. In the early game, the deck establishes its mana base through on-curve mana rocks and land drops while setting up early value engines like Rhystic Study, Orcish Bowmasters, or Call of the Ring. By Turn 5, casting the commander establishes a massive 7/6 presence protected by a punishing Ward cost that requires sacrificing a legendary permanent. Sauron amasses an Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells and wheels your hand into four fresh cards whenever an Army connects in combat. The deck leverages this immense card velocity to assemble an evasive, lethal combat force featuring five copies of Nazgûl, high-impact Wraiths, and reanimated threats. Efficient countermagic, free removal like Deadly Rollick, and asymmetric sweepers like Raise the Palisade protect your board and clear opposing blockers until your overwhelming combat damage eliminates the table.
