Deck overview

This competitive Commander deck helmed by Gev, Scaled Scorch is a blisteringly fast Rakdos turbo combo engine. It leverages Gev's static ability—placing +1/+1 counters on entering creatures if an opponent has lost life this turn—to negate the -1/-1 counters placed by the Persist mechanic. By pairing Gev with a persist creature like Putrid Goblin or Murderous Redcap and a sacrifice outlet such as Goblin Bombardment, Blasting Station, or Phyrexian Altar, the deck generates an infinite loop of death and entry triggers to eliminate all three opponents on the spot. Bolstered by explosive 0–1 CMC acceleration, unconditional black tutors, and game-ending draw engines like Ad Nauseam, Necropotence, and Underworld Breach, the list consistently threatens protected wins on Turns 2–3. Strong disruption pieces such as Opposition Agent, Orcish Bowmasters, and Deflecting Swat ensure resilience against opposing interaction.
