lands? what lands? by MrBeaner

Deck overview

This Abzan deck helmed by Thalia and The Gitrog Monster fuses resource denial with explosive landfall synergies. The commander's first strike and deathtouch provide early board control while forcing opponents' creatures and nonbasic lands to enter tapped. The core game plan revolves around playing extra lands each turn, recurring lands from the graveyard, and generating overwhelming token armies through landfall triggers on Avenger of Zendikar, Scute Swarm, Rampaging Baloths, and Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer. Win conditions include a massive combat swing (often with Overwhelming Encounter or Elspeth, Storm Slayer's token doubling) and Torment of Hailfire as a mana-sink finisher. A potential infinite draw combo exists with The Gitrog Monster and Life from the Loam plus a sacrifice outlet, but the deck lacks a reliable way to close and assembles it inconsistently.
