Deck overview

This deck leverages Marchesa, the Black Rose alongside manifest and manifest dread mechanics to cheat high-cost threats and execute an oppressive aristocrats attrition engine. By placing +1/+1 counters on face-down permanents via dethrone or Unspeakable Symbol, any face-down creature that dies returns to the battlefield face up under Marchesa's end-step delayed trigger. This interaction enables early turns of massive threats like Archon of Cruelty, Valgavoth, Terror Eater, and Akroma, Angel of Fury without paying their printed mana costs. Supported by sacrifice outlets like Goblin Bombardment, Ashnod's Altar, and Carrion Feeder, the deck repeatedly triggers enter-the-battlefield and death abilities across each player's turn cycle. Opponents suffer relentless board and hand depletion from Accursed Marauder, Balor, and Nicol Bolas planeswalkers. While vulnerable to early graveyard hate and targeted removal targeting Marchesa before she acquires counters, the deck grinds out opponents through inevitable combat pressure and recurring asymmetric attrition.
