Yurlok - Thrashing the place! (current) by ClyDeft

Format: Commander

Commander: Yurlok of Scorch Thrash

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Yurlok of Scorch Thrash sits at the helm of a Jund goodstuff pile that is far less interested in mana-burn politics than in casting gigantic creatures ahead of schedule. The 99 is a dense web of mana dorks (Birds of Paradise, Bloom Tender, Ilysian Caryatid), cost reduction (Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma, Honest Rutstein), and outright cheating effects (Etali, Primal Conqueror, Raph & Mikey, Troublemakers, Aurora Awakener, Lurking Predators, Invasion of Ikoria, Smuggler's Surprise). The plan is overwhelming trample damage: Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus doubles the team, Quartzwood Crasher converts damage into more tokens, and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger closes games. Yurlok's activated ability is a mana ritual for your own explosive turns and a slow life-drain that punishes opponents who float the mana he hands out. Secondary reach comes from Etali, Primal Sickness poison, Twilight Prophet and Massacre Wurm drains, and Kefka, Dancing Mad free-cast value. There are no infinite combos in the list; this is a fair, board-centric midrange beater that wins by combat.
