Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Insect tribal and graveyard midrange strategy commanded by Grist, the Hunger Tide. Grist serves as both an engine and an answer in the command zone, creating 1/1 Insect tokens and filling the graveyard through its +1 loyalty ability while removing key opposing threats with its -2 ability. The deck develops a wide battlefield of Insects, Changeling creatures, and token generators such as The Swarmweaver, Canoptek Scarab Swarm, and Hornet Queen. It leverages self-mill and sacrifice synergies with cards like Syr Konrad, the Grim, Six, and Aatchik, Emerald Radian to accrue steady card and board advantage. Victory is achieved by overwhelming opponents through a wide combat assault empowered by Beastmaster Ascension or by draining life totals directly via Grist's -5 ultimate and Syr Konrad's triggers. While resilient to targeted removal thanks to Grist's low recast cost and graveyard recursion, the deck remains vulnerable to mass board wipes and lacks stack-based countermagic.
