Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth to convert life into black mana, dramatically accelerating high-mana spells. The strategy accelerates K'rrik onto the battlefield on Turn 3 or 4, then quickly transitions into game-ending draw engines like Peer into the Abyss, Vilis, Broker of Blood, or Bolas's Citadel on Turn 5. Drawing deep into the library allows the deck to piece together decisive drain finishes, such as using Wall of Blood to set personal life to 1, casting Repay in Kind to reduce all opponents to 1 life, and finishing them with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Bontu the Glorified, or Bolas's Citadel. A secondary suite of heavy Demon threats provides board presence and mid-game attrition. While the deck boasts explosive same-turn closing speed, it trades life aggressively, leaving it vulnerable to instant-speed interaction and targeted removal on K'rrik.
