Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

A red-black dragon/treasure deck built to turn Smaug the Impenetrable into both a treasure engine and a finishing catalyst. It builds early treasure velocity, then deals noncombat damage to Smaug to create a massive mana pile. The usual payoff is an X-spell such as Crackle with Power, with City on Fire tripling it into a table kill. Pyrohemia plus Pain for All creates a repeatable drain loop, while Mirkwood Bats, Mayhem Devil, Nightblade, and The Sackville-Bagginses punish token sacrifice along the way. Revel in Riches, Hellkite Tyrant, and Knuckles the Echidna are alternate permanent-count wins. There is no hidden commander or double-faced face; the whole deck is pointed at the single Smaug commander.
