Deck overview

This Kaalia of the Vast deck focuses on deploying its commander ahead of curve to cheat massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Backed by a dense package of 2-mana artifacts, the deck consistently casts Kaalia on Turn 3 and attacks on Turn 4. To protect its fragile 2/2 commander, the list runs an extensive suite of 1-mana protection spells, proactive bodyguards like Mother of Runes, and haste enablers like Lightning Greaves. Once the engine starts, bombs like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, and Utvara Hellkite quickly dominate combat and close out games over three combat cycles. While the deck lacks infinite combos and cheap universal tutors, its extreme redundancy ensures reliable execution. Its primary vulnerabilities are mass exile sweepers, forced sacrifice effects, and aggressive early removal directed at Kaalia before she attacks.
