Deck overview

Don and Raph, Hard Science leads an Izzet deck that merges artifact ramp, equipment Voltron, and big-mana spells. The early game focuses on deploying low-cost mana rocks and protective equipment. Once Don and Raph enter combat, their attack trigger grants affinity for artifacts to the next noncreature spell cast that turn. This massive mana reduction allows the deck to cast expensive card-draw spells, high-impact equipment, and heavy enchantments like Swarm Intelligence for very little colored mana. In the mid-to-late game, the deck transforms Storm the Vault into Vault of Catlacan, generating massive mana to fuel game-ending burn spells like Comet Storm or Earthquake. Asymmetrical bounce spells and protection Swords clear blockers and push lethal combat damage. While the deck boasts immense mana velocity and explosive card draw, it lacks counterspells and remains vulnerable to mass artifact removal and fast combo decks.
