Commander: Spirit of the Night

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This mono-black deck is a dedicated voltron strategy helmed by Spirit of the Night, a 6/5 with flying, trample, haste, first strike when attacking, and protection from black. The primary game plan is to accelerate into a massive mana base using Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Crypt Ghast, and Magus of the Coffers, then cast the commander and suit it up with equipment like Nightmare Lash, Blackblade Reforged, or Lashwrithe to turn it into a one- or two-shot kill. The deck also employs a deep draw suite (Phyrexian Arena, Vilis, Broker of Blood, Stinging Study) and a handful of tutors to find key pieces. Secondary win conditions include Genji Glove for extra combat and Fireshrieker for double strike, while No Mercy, Pestilence, and Imp's Mischief provide interactive safety. The deck is slow but consistent, leaning heavily on its mana engine to deliver a resilient commander that can recast after removal.
