Deck overview

Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign helms a mono-blue Sphinx tribal combo-control deck that converts high-mana-value creatures into a rapid self-mill and storm engine. The deck relies on 2-3 CMC mana rocks and cost reducers like Urza's Incubator and Sapphire Medallion to accelerate Unesh into play by Turn 5. Once Unesh resolves, its {2} mana discount on Sphinx spells and mini-Fact or Fiction entry triggers allow the pilot to chain cheap clones like Phantasmal Image and low-cost Sphinxes, digging several cards deep with each cast. This explosive card velocity quickly fills the graveyard and hand, setting up a same-turn or untap finish with Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, Conspiracy Unraveler, or Enter the Infinite. While committing heavy mana to high-cost threats, the deck maintains tight defenses through a robust suite of free pitch countermagic, including Foil, Thwart, and Commandeer, alongside creature bounce spells to survive aggression and protect its winning lines.
