Deck overview

This mono-black deck is a synergistic hybrid of Voltron combat and edict-based control helmed by Vincent Valentine // Galian Beast. The game plan revolves around casting Vincent on Turn 3 or 4, then resolving symmetrical sacrifice effects such as Fleshbag Marauder, Plaguecrafter, and Sheoldred's Edict. When opposing creatures die, Vincent absorbs their power as +1/+1 counters. Upon attacking, Vincent transforms into Galian Beast, a large trampling, lifelinking threat with built-in self-recursion on death. The deck protects its commander using efficient indestructible tricks like Alesha's Legacy and equipment like Swiftfoot Boots. As opponents lose their creatures to ongoing attrition, Galian Beast scales in power and eliminates players sequentially through commander damage by Turn 8. While the deck dominates creature-heavy matchups, it has limited interaction against noncreature combo decks and artifact engines.
