[Primer] Hollow Earth Hunters - Hakbal EDH by CrimsonsClaws

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul is the single-faced commander, and the deck is built entirely around his explore trigger: every Merfolk explores at combat, turning lands into hand and nonlands into +1/+1 counters. The primary plan is to build a wide, counter-stuffed Merfolk board, then break through with islandwalk, Herald of Secret Streams, or flying from Namor/Mist Dancer. Secondary paths are Simic Ascendancy growth-counter victory, a huge Body of Research token, and Wanderwine Prophets extra turns. Hakbal accelerates land drops and refills, while lords and draw engines push the board over the top.
