Deck overview

This is a Simic Merfolk tribal deck helmed by Hakbal of the Surging Soul, built around the explore mechanic for explosive board growth and card advantage. The primary game plan is to deploy a wide board of Merfolk, use Hakbal's combat trigger to explore each Merfolk, pile on +1/+1 counters, and break through with unblockable threats like Herald of Secret Streams or islandwalk. The deck generates value through repeatable draw (Kindred Discovery, Rhystic Study, Seafloor Oracle) and land-based ramp (Hakbal's attack trigger, Tatyova, Benthic Druid). The main win route is combat damage, with Simic Ascendancy and Expansion Algorithm serving as backup alt-win/lord enablers. The deck is entirely creature-focused and lacks fast combo lines, relying on incremental advantage and synergies.
