Satoru by Yggdrasil

Format: Commander

Commander: Satoru Umezawa

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a tempo-oriented Dimir deck helmed by Satoru Umezawa, built to exploit his ninjutsu-granting ability to cheat out high-cost creatures at instant speed. The primary game plan involves deploying a cheap evasive creature (Ghost, Spectral Saboteur, Inkrise Infiltrator), then using Satoru's ninjutsu to put a massive threat like Gearseeker Serpent, Zodiark, Umbral God, or Sephiroth, Planet's Heir onto the battlefield tapped and attacking, bypassing their mana costs. The deck also includes a minor artifact subtheme (Golbez, Crystal Collector, Goldvein Pick) and some graveyard recursion (Bone Dragon, Uchbenbak, the Great Mistake, Black Sun's Twilight). The secondary win condition is combat damage from a growing board of large creatures, supplemented by drain effects from Mirkwood Bats and Golbez, Crystal Collector. The deck lacks fast mana, infinite combos, and robust protection, making it a slow, value-oriented strategy that relies on the commander's ability to maintain pressure.
