Deck overview

This Orzhov deck leverages lifegain as both card draw and damage. Helmed by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel, the deck converts life gained into raw card advantage by paying life directly. Early turns establish mana acceleration through rocks like Talisman of Hierarchy and passive lifegain creatures like Soul Warden and Auriok Champion. Mid-game development brings out taxation pieces such as Blind Obedience and Kambal, Consul of Allocation, alongside heavy card-advantage engines including The One Ring and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The primary win condition centers on infinite life-drain loops, notably pairing Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror with Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Enduring Tenacity. Once active, a single life gain or loss eliminates all opponents in one turn. Defensively, the deck uses efficient spot removal like Swords to Plowshares and turn-locking protection like Grand Abolisher and Silence to secure its combo turn.
