Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Gruul face-down midrange engine led by Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods. It leverages the morph, disguise, cloak, and manifest mechanics to cheat mana costs, hide crucial interaction, and dominate combat. In the early game, the deck establishes mana velocity using cheap ramp and specialized cost-reducers like Dream Chisel and Obscuring Aether. Once Yarus enters the battlefield, face-down 2/2 creatures gain immediate haste and draw cards upon connecting in combat. Furthermore, Yarus turns opposing blocks and removal into major setbacks for opponents by returning dying face-down permanents directly to the battlefield face up.
