Deck overview

Anhelo, the Painter commands a Grixis spellslinger deck that uses the casualty mechanic to copy high-impact instants and sorceries. The engine relies on disposable 2-power creatures and token generators—such as Bloodghast, Bloodsoaked Champion, and Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia—to fuel casualty without burning card resources. Early turns focus on establishing mana acceleration and sacrificial fodder before resolving Anhelo on Turn 3. Once established, the deck duplicates card-drawing spells like Big Score and Syphon Mind to build deep card velocity, converting Magecraft triggers from Storm-Kiln Artist and Birgi, God of Storytelling into heavy mana surplus. The deck finishes games around Turn 6 by channeling a copied Mana Geyser into a massive Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate, or by executing the infinite Dualcaster Mage and Twinflame combo. While vulnerable to early creature removal and fast stack combos, the deck demonstrates strong midgame resilience and lethal burst potential.
