Deck overview

This deck is a focused Golgari -1/-1 counter and aristocrats engine commanded by Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. The game plan revolves around placing -1/-1 counters on opposing and friendly creatures to continuously generate 1/1 green Snake creature tokens with deathtouch. By combining dense counter enablers with token payoffs like Nest of Scarabs and Generous Patron, the deck converts board attrition into massive card and board advantage. Mass counter spells such as Soul Snuffers, Carnifex Demon, and Black Sun's Zenith wipe opposing utility creatures while inflating the pilot's army. The deck closes games across Turns 7 and 8 through combat overruns with Beastmaster Ascension, poison counters via Fynn, the Fangbearer, or death-trigger drain loops powered by Bastion of Remembrance, Nadier's Nightblade, and Blowfly Infestation. It plays resilient midrange interaction and efficient protection while dominating creature-centric tables.
