Deck overview

This Dimir deck focuses on transforming its commander, Runo Stromkirk, into Krothuss, Lord of the Deep to overwhelm opponents with duplicated giant sea monsters. The early game focuses on setting up mana rocks and using targeted graveyard tutors like Entomb or topdeck manipulators like Brainstorm and Scroll Rack to place a 6+ mana value creature on top of the library. Once Runo transforms on Turn 4, reanimation spells such as Reanimate and Animate Dead cheat high-cost Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents into play. On Turn 5, Krothuss attacks to create two attacking token copies of premier threats like Spawning Kraken or Scourge of Fleets. This creates an asymmetric board state that locks out opposing blockers and establishes lethal combat pressure by Turn 6. While lacking cheap reactive counterspells, the deck excels in compounding board presence, asymmetric wipes, and massive creature generation.
