Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Simic Merfolk kindred strategy commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The primary objective is to curve out with efficient Merfolk creatures during the early turns, deploy Hakbal on Turn 3 or 4, and trigger widespread explore effects at the beginning of each combat. Explore triggers rapidly expand creature stats via +1/+1 counters while filtering draws and placing extra lands into hand or directly onto the battlefield. The deck converts this resource advantage into decisive combat wins through unblockable effects and islandwalk lords such as Lord of Atlantis, Master of the Pearl Trident, and Herald of Secret Streams. Supporting interaction includes efficient countermagic, flexible creature removal, and flash Merfolk capable of countering abilities. In addition to fair combat pressure, the list contains a compact infinite turn combo using Wanderwine Prophets and Deeproot Pilgrimage.
