Deck overview

This Dimir deck is an aristocrats and combo strategy commanded by Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver. The primary objective is to assemble an infinite sacrifice and life-drain loop utilizing Gravecrawler, Phyrexian Altar, and a death-trigger payoff like Diregraf Captain or Plague Belcher, with Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver supplying continuous decayed Zombie tokens and mana generation. Strong early acceleration from Mox Diamond, Sol Ring, and 2-CMC signets ensures consistent Turn 4 commander deployment and steady card flow. Top-tier black tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Imperial Seal) provide high access to critical combo components, while a potent blue counterspell suite (Force of Will, Force of Negation, Swan Song) defends key execution windows. If the combo route is obstructed, the deck transitions effectively into a resilient tribal midrange plan, swarming opponents with recursive Zombie lords, The Scarab God, and mass reanimation via Zombie Apocalypse or Empty the Laboratory.
