Deck overview

Shay Cormac leads an Orzhov midrange control deck centered on continuous targeted removal, crime triggers, and repartee synergies. The strategy revolves around using Shay's ability to nullify opponent defensive keywords like hexproof, indestructible, and ward for a single generic mana, ensuring no opposing threat escapes removal. Every targeted spell or ability places bounty counters on opposing creatures, allowing Shay to grow by two +1/+1 counters whenever a marked target dies. Supported by cost reducers like Killian, Ink Duelist and value engines like Gisa, the Hellraiser and Kaervek, the Punisher, the deck steadily dismantles opposing boards while building an overwhelming combat presence. While the list lacks stack-based countermagic and unconditional tutors, its exceptional density of cheap removal spells guarantees seamless engine operation. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through commander damage or wide token attacks backed by Inkshield and Bastion Protector.
