Deck overview

Edgar Markov turns every other Vampire spell into an additional creature from the command zone, so the deck's main plan is to build a wide Vampire board, amplify it with tribal lords and counters, and win through combat. Skullclamp is the most important support card: it converts Edgar tokens into two-card bursts and keeps the deck casting Vampires. Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle, Anointed Procession, Legion Lieutenant, Stromkirk Captain, and Malakir Bloodwitch provide additional scaling and damage. The deck has useful removal and some sacrifice-based attrition, but it lacks reliable tutors, countermagic, and protection for a large board. Tap lands also slow its six-mana commander and multicolored spells. A functional engine can appear around turn 4, with a must-answer combat board around turn 6 and an uninterrupted table finish around turn 9. Creature sweepers and disruption aimed at the Clamp or lords are the main obstacles.
