Deck overview

This deck is a high-power Mono-Black Aristocrats strategy commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck accelerates rapidly through format-ceiling fast mana—including Chrome Mox, Mox Diamond, Mana Vault, and Dark Ritual—to establish early sacrifice outlets and card draw engines by Turn 4. Once Avacyn hits the battlefield on Turn 6, its unique end-step reanimation ability converts nontoken creature deaths into recurring, asymmetric value engines. By sacrificing creatures like Accursed Marauder or Plaguecrafter across each player's turn, the deck wipes opposing boards and shreds hands four times per rotation. The game is closed out through recurring life drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star, backed by lethal aerial commander damage. While the deck boasts immense mana velocity and devastating attrition, its lack of dedicated tutors and protective spells leaves it vulnerable to well-timed targeted removal and graveyard exile.
