Deck overview

This deck is a five-color spellslinger engine built around Codie, Ravenous Codex and the prepare mechanic. Rather than playing typical instant and sorcery cards, the deck utilizes prepare creatures that provide access to powerful spells from outside the hand. Codie automatically doubles each prepared spell cast and offers a five-color activation to re-prepare the entire battlefield. Mid-game turns leverage magecraft powerhouses such as Leonin Lightscribe, Veyran, Voice of Duality, and Archmage Emeritus alongside Jeskai Ascendancy to generate immense card velocity and team-wide combat buffs. The deck excels at explosive card replenishment, drawing dozens of cards once its engine is active. However, it relies heavily on creature permanents remaining on the board and features a basic-heavy five-color manabase that can struggle with colored mana consistency under pressure. It closes games through wide, evasive combat damage backed by copied burn and drain spells.
