Deck overview

This mono-black deck combines aggressive Voltron combat with sacrifice-based aristocrat engines, centered around Super Shredder. Casting the commander early allows it to accumulate +1/+1 counters whenever any permanent leaves the battlefield, turning routine fetch activations, treasure consumption, and symmetrical edict creatures into massive power boosts. Supporting cards like Cultist of the Absolute, Tarrian's Soulcleaver, and Arcade Cabinet accelerate the commander's offensive growth and grant crucial evasion such as flying and menace. Concurrently, sacrifice outlets and death triggers from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Braids, Arisen Nightmare whittle down opposing life totals while refilling the hand. High-end threats like Shredder, Shadow Master and Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal provide formidable secondary win conditions that function independently of the commander. The deck's primary limitations stem from a low land count of 28, vulnerability to heavy mass removal, and an inherent mono-black weakness against noncreature permanent types like artifacts.
