Deck overview

This Golgari deck is a tribal midrange strategy helmed by Shelob, Child of Ungoliant. It aims to leverage Shelob's 8/8 frame, deathtouch aura, and ward protection alongside fight spells and trample enablers. Early turns establish a reliable mana base through low-cost mana dorks and land ramp, allowing Shelob to enter on Turn 5. Once Shelob is operational on Turn 6, the deck initiates combat dominance. By combining deathtouch with trample from cards like Garruk's Uprising and Shadowspear, only a single point of damage is needed to kill each blocker, trampling the remaining power directly into life totals. Concurrently, fight spells and lure effects like Nemesis Mask weaponize deathtouch to wipe opposing creatures, converting them into Food artifact tokens that synergize with Jaheira, Friend of the Forest and Mirkwood Bats. The game concludes across multiple combat rounds or a wide overrun via Overwhelming Stampede, closing out the table around Turn 9.
