Commander: The Locust God

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck is a classic The Locust God wheels-and-draws strategy, built to turn every card drawn into a flying 1/1 Insect token. The primary game plan is to ramp into the commander, then use wheel effects (Windfall, Wheel of Misfortune, Magus of the Wheel) to refill the hand and generate a massive swarm of hasty tokens. The insect army applies pressure through combat damage, but the deck also runs a robust pinger subtheme: Purphoros, God of the Forge, Impact Tremors, Goblin Bombardment, and Cavalcade of Calamity each convert token entry into direct damage to all opponents. Alternative win conditions include Psychosis Crawler (life loss on each draw), Laboratory Maniac / Thassa's Oracle (self-mill through drawing the entire library), and Vivi Ornitier as a mana engine that also pings. The deck is a classic "draw spells matter" strategy that can explode quickly once the engine is online, though it relies heavily on the commander for token generation.
