Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Stompy archetype commanded by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. The strategy accelerates on Turns 1 to 3 with efficient mana dorks and ramp spells, then deploys Ruric Thar on Turn 4 to punish opposing noncreature spells with 6 damage triggers. Backed by anti-meta hatebears like Harsh Mentor, Scytheclaw Raptor, and Manglehorn, the deck restricts spell-heavy and artifact-based opponents while curving into massive trample threats such as Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Ilharg, the Raze-Boar, and End-Raze Forerunners. The list intentionally runs 61 creatures and only seven noncreature spells, maximizing Ruric Thar's one-sided attrition and enabling explosive turns with Primal Surge. While the deck excels at consistent ramp, combat pressure, and life-total attrition, it carries little instant-speed stack interaction and minimal board protection.
