Deck overview

An Esper lifegain-control deck built around Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, whose command-zone upkeep trigger lets the deck start every game above 40 life and whose on-board ability converts every lifegain event into a card and a ping. The central finish is the Exquisite Blood loop: any payoff that drains opponents when you gain life - Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Defiant Bloodlord, Cliffhaven Vampire, or Marauding Blight-Priest - turns a single Oloro lifegain trigger into a table-ending drain. Around that core sits a slow, grindy Esper shell: early lifelinkers like Serra Ascendant and Speaker of the Heavens, repeated draw from Phyrexian Arena and Bolas's Citadel, a modest removal/counterspell suite, and long-game insurance in Approach of the Second Sun and a life-inflated Storm Herd. It is a durdly control-combo deck that needs to keep its life total high while assembling the loop.
