Deck overview

This Izzet deck is an aggressive tribal midrange build commanded by Sarkhan, Soul Aflame. The game plan revolves around deploying cost-reducing shamans and mana rocks to land Sarkhan early on Turn 3. Once Sarkhan is in play, the deck curves directly into devastating 5-to-7 mana Dragons such as Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, and Hellkite Tyrant. Whenever a Dragon enters the battlefield, Sarkhan copies it until end of turn, immediately doubling combat power, ETB triggers, and attack triggers. Direct burn and haste from Dragon Tempest allow the deck to pressure life totals immediately upon resolution. Supporting this proactive creature strategy is a highly efficient, low-mana interactive suite composed of countermagic like Silumgar's Scorn and Counterspell, targeted creature polymorphs, and one-sided sweepers like Desolation of Smaug. The deck reliably assembles by Turn 5, creates critical pressure on Turn 6, and eliminates the table via evasive combat damage by Turn 8.
