Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov control and combo strategy commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary game plan focuses on ramping during the early turns to establish the commander and lifegain engines. Once operational, every instance of lifegain converts directly into substantial card draw, allowing the pilot to rapidly churn through the library to find decisive win conditions. The deck features multiple avenues to victory, most notably the infinite drain loop of Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond, alongside alternate win conditions such as Approach of the Second Sun and Felidar Sovereign. Defensively, the list is fortified by an elite suite of protection spells like Teferi's Protection, Flawless Maneuver, and Grand Abolisher, ensuring that critical combo turns can execute unhindered. High-impact attrition pieces like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and the creature-suppression pairing of Maha, Its Feathers Night and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite provide robust board control while the deck advances toward a decisive finish.
