Deck overview

This is an Izzet discard-matters spellslinger deck helmed by Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. The core plan discards aggressively via loot spells and wheels to pump creatures (often Howler himself) with his trigger, connect for card advantage, and convert those discards into direct damage through payoffs like Brallin, Skyshark Rider, Magmakin Artillerist, and Monument to Endurance. Parallel engines include classic Izzet magecraft and draw-punisher dragons (Niv-Mizzet, Parun, Niv-Mizzet, Visionary, The Locust God, Veyran, Voice of Duality) that turn the high instant/sorcery density into tokens, pings, and card flow. Primary wins come from pumped combat, table-wide discard burn, or Laboratory Maniac after emptying the library; secondary lines use Curiosity on a Niv for infinite damage. Howler is a strong but non-mandatory engine-the 99 still functions through its spellslinger and discard payoffs.
