Deck overview

This is a general-power Gruul creature deck that uses cheap mana acceleration to cast large threats ahead of curve. Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods gives the creature package haste, while Port Razer, Karlach, Fury of Avernus, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, Raphael, Tag Team Tough, and Full Throttle create additional combat phases. Large creatures such as Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Etali, Primal Storm, Giant Adephage, and Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus can make those combats decisive. The main weakness is that Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods has almost no face-down support, so its recursion and card-draw abilities are usually blank. The deck also lacks compact tutoring, reliable evasion, stack interaction, and a guaranteed table-kill outlet. It can generate strong battlefield advantage around turns 6–7, but its full finish remains dependent on combat connections, surviving creatures, and opponents' blockers.
