Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control strategy led by Garland, Royal Kidnapper, designed to weaponize opponents' resources through political manipulation and theft. Garland introduces the Monarch to an opponent upon entry, immediately seizing their premier creature and buffing it by +2/+2 while preventing sacrifice counterplay. The deck leverages blink engines like Thassa, Deep-Dwelling and Conjurer's Closet to reset Garland or exile stolen creatures and return them under your permanent control. Supported by an efficient suite of countermagic, free interaction like Fierce Guardianship and Deadly Rollick, and asymmetric restrictors such as Notion Thief and Dauthi Voidwalker, the deck disrupts faster strategies while building card advantage. Victory is achieved through sustained combat pressure with buffed stolen permanents and late-game finishers like Rise of the Dark Realms and Sepulchral Primordial.
