Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable is a Rakdos treasure-pyromancer deck that weaponizes its own commander's indestructibility. The plan is to resolve the hasted 8/7 Smaug, then deal noncombat damage to him with repeatable pings like Pyrohemia and Pestilence, or one-shot bursts like Self-Destruct, Cut Propulsion, and The Last Agni Kai, converting every point of damage into Treasure tokens. Xorn, Goldspan Dragon, and Academy Manufactor multiply the hoard, Magda, Brazen Outlaw turns five Treasures into a tutored Dragon or artifact, and the hoard itself kills via Exsanguinate, Reckless Fireweaver, Mayhem Devil, Mirkwood Bats, or Hellkite Tyrant's 20-artifact alternate win. Damage-based board wipes double as mana engines because Smaug survives them. Secondary lines include Dawnsire, Sunstar Dreadnought stationing Smaug for a 100-damage burst, with Magda, Brazen Outlaw and Prosper, Tome-Bound acting as hidden commanders.
