Deck overview

This Dimir deck executes an interactive control and attrition strategy commanded by Vren, the Relentless. It leverages a dense package of efficient, instant-speed creature removal and edicts to control the battlefield. Vren turns every opposing creature death into exile, shutting down opposing graveyard and death triggers while generating an army of scaling Relentless Rat tokens at each end step. Supported by secondary token generators like Talrand, Sky Summoner, Murmuring Mystic, and Deekah, Fractal Theorist, the deck converts routine defensive spellcasting into offensive combat presence. Card selection through cheap cantrips ensures steady land drops and continuous interaction. For alternative win conditions, the list includes a compact infinite magecraft loop with Sedgemoor Witch and Chain of Smog, alongside late-game mass token producers like Rise from the Tides. Countermagic and targeted redirection shield the board from sweepers, allowing the deck to close out the game through overwhelming, wide combat damage.
